Marquis Villas Resort

What are some good resorts in Cuba?

We are planning on going to Cuba in the next couple of months, and I want some opinions about good resorts? Or bad resorts that people have stayed at. Thanks in advance for only answering the question, and keeping your opinion of Cuba out of it.

  1. Hi again, The best resorts to go to are either Sol Melia or Iberostar. Be sure to book nothing less than a 4*. My favourite is Tryp Cayo Coco...awesome resort! Awesome people who work there. But the hotel is a beautiful layout. The food is great, amenities are clean, service is fabulous, the staff are hardworking and friendly, and the Entertainment Team are fun (and very talented). Apparently there's a new resort opened up in Cayo Coco (I think its base is Spain). If I remember correctly it's called Blue Bay. The website looks amazing. http://www.bluebayresorts.com/en/hotel/bluebay-cayo-coco.html So where exactly in Cuba are you planning on visiting? That'll give a better idea as to the resorts/hotels to stay at. Basically, Varadero, Cayo Coco, Guaradalavaca, Cayo Santa Maria are amongst the most popular Cuban destinations. This is Tryp Cayo Coco: http://www.solmeliacuba.com/cuba-hotel/tryp-cayococo/ http://www.solmelia.com/hotels/cuba/cayo-coco/tryp-cayo-coco/photos.htm http://www.bing.com/images?q=Pictures+of+Cayo+Coco+Cuba&form=IGRE# Another regular poster in the Cuban section and travels to Cuba all the time would tell you Sol Luna y Mares in Guaradalvaca...but I think he's still in Cuba this week. He loves going there and has the most amazing time....another Sol Melia hotel. http://www.solmelia.com/hotels/cuba/holguin/sol-rio-de-luna-y-mares/home.htm http://www.solmeliacuba.com/cuba-hotel/sol-riodelunaymares/ Here is Iberostar: http://www.iberostar.com/EN/Cuba/hotels_5_15.html Hope these sites help!
  2. Villa Marista, El Combinado del Este, Puerto Boniato You are very welcome
  3. I've had so many friends go to Cuba in the past 10 years and stay at all the best resorts. They'd come back with the same opinion, food bad, service horrible, and blah blah accomodation, activities and nightlife. Everyone of them was comparing to Mexico or DR, and would prefer them instead. So I was very negative about Cuba but decided to backpack through the countryside anyway. OH MY GOD, I saw the real Cuba in that 3 weeks and I can't say enough nice things about the people, the culture and the countryside! Unfortunately resorts are not very good ways of seeing the real Cuba. I know you said for people to keep their opinions to themselves, but this is an answer website not an advisor website. Go to Tripadvisor or Travelocity or something if you want ratings!
  4. Look for a 4 or 5 star resort, managed by an international operator. (Sol Melia, Occidental, Iberostar, Barcelo all have high-quality resorts.)
  5. I love staying in Varadero . It is the only part of Cuba I have stayed at, so I am a little bias. There are other places that are amazing to stay at im sure... but in Varadero, I love the Blau. I am a returning customer(4times). But i would agree, definatly check www.tripadvisor.com for better info, and you will get a lot more out of it :)
  6. My favorite resort in Cuba is Sol Melia Rio Luna y Mares. You fly into Holguin then it's about an hour by bus to Guardalavaca where the resort is located. It offers a terrific white powder beach, great staff, good dining , lots to do, much of which is at no extra cost such as hobiecats, paddle boats, horseback riding. Check the links below for lots of info especially the reviews on trip advisor. Chances are you go once, you'll be back. http://www.solmeliacuba.com/videos/ http://www.gocuba.ca/en/index.asp http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g910832-d256423-r16538972-Sol_Rio_de_Luna_y_Mares-Guardalavaca_Cuba.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNpIyAUoHT0 http://www.cuba-junky.com/cuba/what-to-bring.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g147270-c62973/Cuba:Caribbean:Organised.Trips.Guardalavaca.Resorts.html
