Which Disney hotel for a family with a 6 year old?
We are transferring from our timeshare, and have a choice of the following: Disney's Beach Club Villas Disney's BoardWalk Villas Disney's Old Key West Resort Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge We will have a 1 bedroom. Which would you choose and why? We are planning on going sometime between mid October and early December. Want good food options, a good pool if we go in October, near a park, if possible. Any other info helpful! We understand different people will like different hotels for different reasons. That's why we are looking for everyone's opinions for help. I have read the websites...I am looking for personal experience, not pasted websites!!!

- Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- I would go with the Boardwalk villas. Your right near Epcot & Hollywood studios. Place has a great pool and a cool lobby. Very nice place.

- stayed in the boardwalk villas twice when i was 13 and 17 (that was a few years back) but its walking distance to the swan, dolphin, and other hotels. Epcot is a walk away (at the end of the boardwalk) you can take the boats to MGM and the buses go to magic kingdom and all the other parks. they had some fast food type options in that area walking distance. the pool was decent i dont imagine youd go swimming in oct/dec in orlando, though.
- Beach Club. we go there every year and we been in other hotels but we love the beach club. And it is good for children.
- Boardwalk and Beach Club are both a short walk from EPCOT and Beach Club has Beaches & Cream restaurant which has yummy shakes and good burgers. And of course at the Boardwalk resort, there is the Boardwalk itself which has the ESPNZone restaurant and a great bakery among other things. A lot of people, ourselves included, think the pool at the Beach Club (which is also shared by the Yacht Club) is one of the best of the resort pools. The shipwreck slide is awesome! We also love Wilderness Lodge, more for the decor and setting. A big bonus is that we love both restaurants there, Artist Pointe and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Roaring Forks (the food court type restaurant) is alright. We are Disney Vacation Club members, and Saratoga Springs is our home resort, so of course we love it there too. The location to Downtown Disney is great, but some people do complain it's too far from the other parks. Some people also complain that SSR is too large and spread out, so if depending on what building you stay at, you may be far from the main building where the pool and the restaurants are located. But with the internal SSR bus, you normally don't wait more than 10-15 minutes for a bus. The pools at SSR are great, we particularly love the zero depth entry pool for the little ones, but I don't imagine that's a big deal for you guys since your little one is 6 years old. We've never stayed at Key West, but I do know the sizes of the rooms there are a little bit bigger than at the other resorts. Hope that helps a little.
- they are all nice.i would choose the one closet to the parks because it is a pain to get around sometimes and at the end of a long day who wants a long busride.i heard the wilderness lodge is very far from the magic kingdom.at the boardwalk( i stayed there)you can walk to epcot and then take the monorail to the magic kingdom.trust me you will be there the most and the long bus lines are horrible.....at the boardwalk they have a kitchen and store below so if you want to cook breakfast or something you can.i did and it saved me immense time and money as the food is really not great and your child may not feel like sitting in a restaurant..the pool there was great too.diney does everything right so any one you choose will be nice, but proximity to the magic kingdom is key.
- I personally like the Boardwalk Villas because they are on the boardwalk (obviously) and right near Epcot's back door. However, you said you have a 6 year old, who probably likes Magic Kingdom best. In that case, I would probably go with the one closest to Magic Kingdom.
- I would choose the Beach Club Villas. I have 3 boys and that is a great choice for one main reason, Stormalong Bay. That is the 'pool' area at the Beach Club. It is like a mini-water park! My kids could spend a whole day there and ask for more! It is by far the coolest resort 'pool' in all of Disney. If you stay there, you don't even need to pay extra to go to a water park, you have one at your hotel! Have fun!
