Cabo san lucas vacation..?

My boyfriend & I are planning our once a year "big vacation" we usually take 3-4 day small vacations throughout the year then one big one for like 2 weeks. This year we decided on going to Cabo San Lucas for 12 nights. We want to go in May 2009. (we always plan our trips way in advanced) We do have a few questions on lodging & spending money. Our top 3 choices for lodging in no particular order are: Villa Estancia Villa del Arco Beach Resort & Grand Spa Pueblo Bonito Rose We really want somewhere close to restaurants, shopping & nightlife. Has anyone ever stayed at any of these hotels or have any opinions on them? We were also talking today about how to spend money in Cabo. I am not sure I am comfortable using my debit/credit card at different places in Mexico & I definitely dont want to bring a huge wade of cash down there. What is the safest way to spend money there? This trip is definitely focused on relaxation. We both work full time jobs & attend school part time and vacations are important to us. We would want to do things like sleep in late, go to brunch & then maybe hit the beach & later go out for drinks. Are things like this possible in Cabo? We are looking to book our trip in the next 2 weeks, so any information provided is appreciated. thanks in advance =)

  1. I'm sure you will have a Great time here. All tree Resorts are next each other, right on the main beach in Cabo San Lucas, and a 15 minutes walking to downtown or 5 bucks cab. Get the one with the lowest price, all 3 are great, and hard to make a decision, so go for the price. All 3 have great facilities, top of the line, excellent restaurants and superb spas, just flip a coin, really. About spending money, is all depends where you shop or spend your money, some small shops, just take cash, but ATMs are everywhere. Credit cards can protect you in case you loose it, but debit cards are more risky, since is your own money. Bring a credit card, (also you will need it for your hotel expenses and if you want to rent a car), some cash and some traveler's cheques, that are also protected. Also, use the safe at your room, all 3 hotels have them. Enjoy Cabo
  2. Good destination choice. Because Cabos is not that big, seems like you'll have plenty of time to have some lazy days to sleep in late and do nothing but order room service. I can't comment on the 3 hotels/resorts you're researching but in regards to location, it will depend on what you're trying to do. Since we usually go to Cabos for a few days (like 5), most of the action is in Cabo San Lucas. The downtown area is like a little manhattan, everything is so close and whatever hotels you find there aren't too big, but location is everything. You can walk to the good beaches ( like Playa Medano), as well as most of the restaurants, nightlife, attractions, etc. If the hotel you chose happens to be somewhere on the corridor instead, then you will see better resorts and have tranquility, but everything is so far that your costs will rise quickly with either transportation or renting a car, so take that into consideration, plus you have to park and if you have too many drinks, then you have to drive back, but if you get a cab, then they charge you an arm and a leg, so you get the hint (sorry, run on sentence). May is good time to go too, especially around Memorial Day weekend; it's all worth it. Good luck and have fun.
