  1. The Flamingo. Its aesthetically pleasing and has nice amenities. You can use http://www.goanywhere.org to book with, they have awesome rates Good Luck!!
  2. I just booked my vacation to Costa Rica for April and I kind of had the same questions as you do. I looked at tripadvisor.com and read all the revies and then according to that I booked each hotel. I hope I picked the right hotel, but most of the hotels I booked were either a 4 or 5 star and one can only hope that they would be at least ok...what do you think? Try tripadvisor..you will see hundreds of reviews plus pictures other vacationers took....very very interesting....
  3. Flamingo Marina is the best option. The hotel is very nice, the beach is beautiful.
  4. Hotel Fiesta doesn't exist anymore. The Hilton company bought it and its name is something like double trees. Don't go there, the beach is dirty and the hotel isn't that nice. I don't know about the others, though.
  5. Villa Caletas in Jaco aera
  6. It is much better Guanacaste and all its beaches than Puntarenas (including Jacó) Playas del Coco, not that great. Flamingo is very beautiful. The Sanctuary is supposed to be very exclusive, I guess it is very nice. Look for hotels in the Papagayo area, or Tamarindo, Flamingo, Potrero. Good luck!! Pura vida.
  7. I agree with the above answer, Puntarenas is a port city and the beaches are not the greatest. Jaco has become a center for prostetution and drugs. The guanacaste area is the most popular for Beach Resort Vacations. I do also recommend the Papagayo Gulf. If you want to view more hotels in those areas here is a good site. http://www.anywherecostarica.com/guanacaste/costa-rica/travel.htm From the list you have, I do think that the Ocotol Beach Resorty stands out because it has a 4 leaf rating in sustainability which is very important. The Northern Pacific region is being built up so fast and resorts are not taking care of their waste management. The Costa Rican Tourism Institue (ICT) issues the leaf rating to those hotels that are concious about their effects on the environment.
  8. I will agree with the above answers and say that the beaches in Guanacaste in general are the best places to visit, from your list I have to say Flamingo in first place, Ocotal second, take your time and if you can visit the papagayo area beautiful beaches.
