With regards to viewing a timeshare. Can a timeshare company say that qualified single males cannot view it?

Say you have a single male and a single female both qualified to view the timeshare. The female is able to go. The timeshare company tells its employees not to book single males and if they do they will be written up and terminated. Can they do that?

  1. it is their policy - yes. no laws say who u can go out with . dumb thou. may be done for safety/liablities issues.
  2. That is a ploy to avoid default without recourse from the single individual. They need more security for the monthly mainenance payments like a co-signer.
  3. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, or disability by housing providers, such as landlords and real estate companies as well as other entities, such as municipalities, banks or other lending institutions, and homeowners insurance companies. Individuals who believe that they have been victims of an illegal housing practice may file a complaint with the Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD] or file their own lawsuit in federal or state court. You must file the complaint with HUD within one year of the incident you believe to be housing discrimination. If you choose to file your own lawsuit in federal or state court, the Act requires that you do so within two years of the incident. Does the act cover timeshares? HUD has held that a‘‘dwelling’’ under the Act can coversummer homes or even timeshare units. http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:d7tkUoedN4wJ:www.hud.gov/offices/fheo/library/hopa_final.pdf+fair+housing+act+timeshare+discrimination+site:.gov&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us
  4. There is a reason why they qualify them like that. They are giving you freebies and they want people to buy. They have done studies and know that single males just take the freebies and walk away. So it´s not a good deal for the company. On the other hand if you are really interested they can book you but with NO FREEBIES. Believe me they will never say no to that.
