Gran Ventana or Blue Bay Villas in Puerto Plata?

I am contemplating on going to either Gran Ventana or Blue Bay Villas in Puerto Plata. Based on your experience or comments from friends and relatives, which resort is better in terms of the beach, service, food and activities?

1. http://www.debbiesdominicantravel.com This website is a HUGE resource for all things Dominican. As well as this one http://www.applevacations.com. I do not know these resorts myself. On the whole Puerto Plata is very pretty. If they are all inclusives you will not be disappointed. Every resort I have ever stayed in, including Mexico, you can be as busy or not busy as you choose to be. Then there are always tours that you can take outside of the resort. All the beaches there are beautiful. Service depends on the resort and level of resort, but most are gracious and clean at the very least. Every one I have ever stayed in had a large selection of food, local and international. As the resorts cater to many nationalities. There were also specialty restaurants (ala cart for some) at each resort. When you check the websites you'll be able to see for yourself exactly what each resort offers. Have a great trip!
2. The difference between them is obvious : Blue Bay is a adult only resort, so the essential is that it is more quiet. Gran Ventana is very good, but is a family resort. Both are located almost side by side on the same beach in Playa Dorada. The service in both is excellent, but if you prefer a more "sophisticated" service go to Blue Bay. I'm living in Puerto Plata and operating for both resorts.
3. yo bro , havent we been here before ??? .... blu bay is probably the nicest resort in puerta platas playa dorada area as well as being the only adult only resort ..... i personally like it because it has a real south beach vibe with the bali beds and trance music while you and your baby sip from the pineapples and stare at the water ... your also right next to the only disco in the area if you want alittle nite life .......but check otu those web sites someones givin ya . i only live in the d.r and worked at blu bay for 2 days.
