Are resorts in the Dominican strict on drinking age?

My friends and I are going to the Dominican in January and I was wondering if most resorts were lenient on drinking ages? We are all 17 (so almost legal there!!). Do most resorts give you a wrist band indicating how old you are? Or does everyone get the same one? We haven't decided on where we're going yet! Know any good resorts? I've been to the RIU Naiboa and Taino twice before so we're thinking about going there again.

Some do and others don't, all depending where you go to. Generally in the resorts in Puerto Plata, there is no problem for this matter.
There is no such place as "The Dominican"... if you are talking about the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC then use the whole name. Every month, there are about 10 or 12 AmeriKans who end up in DOMINICA because they ask for tickets fo "The Dominican" and the person selling the tickes hears "The Dominica"... just because AmeriKans are such amateur travelers and know nothing about geography... doesn't mean they can actually buy an airline ticket to a country that doesn't exist.. IT'S DOMINICAN REPUBLIC... and it doesn't make you look 'cool' or well traveled by not using a countries name... like the way you people call Las Vegas "Vegas"...
Unless you are paying a child's price you won't get a kids bracelet and at seventeen you won't have a problem being served alcohol. retired is being a little harsh, many people will say the D.R however you and thousands of others refer to it as the Dominican and unless some one has left their brains behind they won't end up in Dominica. Go and enjoy just keep the alcohol consumption to a sensible level. A little tip, if you are having piñacoladas or other blended drinks ask the bar tender to use ordinary white rum not 151 which packs a killer punch.
they dont care how old you are as long as your buying someting from them lol. its true im 13 and i've been going there [since i have a house there] ever since i was born they let me buy anything just because they get the money
